This is a 3 day John Britt Glaze Testing workshop where participants  will discover how to accurately and confidently create the glazes and colors that most intrigue you.   The format of the workshop is to create personal test tiles running color blends with cone 6 oxidation or cone 10 reduction glazes while learning the ins and outs of glaze preparation and firing.

The workshop is designed for beginner to intermediate potters and will include a general overview of ceramic glazes, including discussions on cones, kilns, firing dynamics and principles as well as applying those principles to various firing cycles.  This will lead into some basic classifications of glazes, like ash, celadon, temmoku, etc.   Britt will discuss how and why each type of glaze works (and why glazes fail) and how to adjust your glazes.

You will walk out of this workshop with a launching pad to find and create a new exciting palette of glazes. 

Price:  ​$325.

June 8-10, 9 am to 5 pm.

Price includes a $25 lab fee (We will make and bisque fire 30 test tiles per participant, provide chemicals and firings) and lunch.

Workshop Schedule:  On ​​Friday we will be preparing test tiles with a base glaze and ten colorant variations. We will fire on Saturday in the cone 6 electric and cone 10 reduction kiln and then on Sunday, we will discuss the results when they are unloaded from the kiln.
