Join us in this three day Cone 6 glaze testing workshop led by renowned potter and expert glaze master John Britt.

This workshop is a general overview of ceramic glazes, focusing on but not limited to cone 6 glazes. This ‘hands-on’ workshop is designed for beginner to intermediate potters where each participant will make up a base glaze with 10 colour variations and create test tiles for each variation.

While the test tiles are going through the firing process, we will discuss cones, kilns, firing dynamics and principles as well as applying those principles to various firing cycles, safety, how to adjust your glazes, structure of glazes, how to work Glazy.org, etc. All things glaze!

This workshop is highly interactive and based on the interest and level of experience of the group. Discussions will include basic classifications of glazes, such as ash, celadon, temmoku, etc. and why/how how each type of glaze works and how you can achieve them. It will also include ways to adjust your glazes and how to find new ones.

We will discuss glazes from John’s book: “The Complete Guide to Mid-Range Glazes: Glazing and Firing at cone 4 – 7” but will go into much greater detail than the book allowed.
