Making Mid Range Glazes in Ottawa Canada with John Britt

Join in this three day, in person, hands-on Cone 6 glaze testing workshop led by renowned potter and
expert glaze master John Britt. The workshop is designed to show participants how to test a base recipe
and get various colors (color blending) as well as strength of colors (progression tests). We will discuss
clays, slips, cones, kilns, firing dynamics and principles and how to apply those principles to various firing
cycles. We will discuss how and why each type of glaze works and how you can achieve them, how to
adjust your glazes and how to find new ones. It is aimed at intermediate to advanced potters.

October 21, 22 and 23rd at the Nepean Visual Arts Centre (NVAC), Ottawa, ON.
Friday October 21st, 9am to 4pm
Saturday October 22nd, 10 am to 5pm
Sunday October 23rd, 10am to 4pm.

Tickets
There are two types of tickets for the workshop, available to potters who are a member of either the
Ottawa Guild of Potters or Fusion Clay and Glass Association.


(1) There are 25 hands-on workshop spaces, priced at $450 for October 21, 22 and 23rd.
(2) An additional 25 workshop spaces will be available for Saturday, October 22nd.
General registration will open on Monday, August 15th. Registration will be through the Fusion website,
https://www.clayandglass.on.ca/.


Additional Information:
NVAC is located at Entrance 3, 1701 Woodroffe Avenue, Ottawa, ON. It is a City of Ottawa facility that is
accessible and has free parking.
Coffee, tea and lunches will be included in the workshop. Please communicate any food sensitivities or
accommodations required by October 5, 2022.
Ticket sales are final, no refunds will be issued.
