BLUE ORIBE

This is a 24 page PDF outlining my experiments with oxidation Blue Oribe in electric cone 6 and both gas oxidation and electric cone 9/10.

I include cone 10 and cone 6 glazes recipes of Oribe and many fake chestnut ash recipes. I also address mixing and application details, firing cycles as well as a final acid bath which is optional. There are many samples pieces as well as some test tile examples which show the range of possibilities for this interesting technique.

This is, once again, a rare piece of ceramic glaze literature because most people keep these secrets to themselves but I wanted to share what I learned so others could take it as a starting point in their research. (Plus I am getting old and forgetful and wanted to write it all down.)

This is well worth the price tag because as you know, trying to learn this all yourself would take months of making tiles, throwing, trimming and bisque firing hundreds of pieces, making glaze recipes and variations. Basically the cost of two glaze glaze firing and you can have it all. A gem of ceramics literature.

I would ask that you don’t just go and publish the recipes on Glazy and other social media outlets for a while. I am trying to find a way to make this kind of research economically viable and if I can’t make any money for 6 months of work then I won’t be able to keep investigating glazes. Thanks.
