This 64 page PDF is a general introduction into sculptural surfaces starting with clay bodies, slips, methods of finding, testing and adjusting glaze recipes as well as creating your own sculptural surface glazes and patinas. There are recipes provided but the main thrust of this PDF is how to create your own surfaces with a simple 50/50 blend and then variations from that methods.
Because sculptural glazes do not need to be functional we can basically construct any surface that will stick to your sculpture. This provides unlimited freedom and possibilities but also is a bit overwhelming when you start. This PDF will get you started creating your own personal sculptural palette.
